We are a small team of senior engineers in Hong Kong, helping ambitious clients across APAC ship software that works the day after launch, and the year after that.

Our story
BuildProj was founded in 2016 when our CEO Dick left a senior role at a global bank to fix what he saw as the consultancy industry's biggest flaw: pitching with senior people and delivering with juniors. We started with a single rule — every project would be led, built and supported by senior engineers, no exceptions.
Nine years later we are a team of 18 across engineering, design and security, working out of Cyberport in Hong Kong. We have helped 120+ clients across fintech, retail, healthcare, logistics and Web3 — from Series-A startups to listed conglomerates.
We still hold that single rule. Every line of code shipped from BuildProj has the name of a senior engineer attached to it.

Dick Lau
Founder & CEO
Banking background — ex-senior manager at a global tier-1 bank, with a decade leading mission-critical builds across trading, risk and treasury. Dick now leads BuildProj across AI, fundraising, project management and crypto, and personally runs every Series-A pitch and on-prem AI engagement.
Sophia Chen
Chief Technology Officer
Former staff engineer at a unicorn payments company. Sophia owns BuildProj's technical strategy across web, mobile and AI. She still writes production code every week.
Daniel Lau
Head of Engineering
Twelve years building large-scale React and React Native applications. Daniel leads delivery for our web and mobile engagements and runs the engineering practice.
Priya Sharma
Head of AI
PhD in machine learning, ex-research engineer at a frontier-model lab. Priya leads our AI practice — RAG, fine-tuning, evals and applied agent systems.
Kenji Tanaka
Head of Cybersecurity
OSCP, CISSP. Kenji has led red-team engagements for listed companies and incident response for ransomware breaches. He runs our security practice.
